Hi I recently bought a used 1d mk3, got 12 months warranty and I believe a fair price. I see lots of posts re the focus and issues, I was hoping someone could possibly tell me what the issue was/is so I could look out for it. I have used mine for about 200 shots and about a 1/3 are soft, poor focus.

Thanks for any comments

Chris

Chris does the serial number of your Camera fall within the affected range of
501001 - 546561?
If so I believe Canon will still honour the fix.

Believe it's 547 onwards, I'm gonna try the suggestion on the link kindly provided above and take some more test shots. Stands a chance it's me ! Just want to make sure though, it did come with 12 months warranty as ex Canon display,

I had a 1D Mk3 and had a similar experience with soft photos to start with. It was only after a couple of weeks of use and getting used to it that I started to get a reliable keeper rate. I was so used to a 5D3 with its 'auto ISO' settings etc. it was a job getting used to changing everything each time I took a shot. Stick with it, read the manual and give it some time and I'm sure you'll get there.

I've recently got a 70D to use as a backup to my 5D3 and as a consequence I've sold the 1D3 on as the 70D does everything and more than the 1D3 did so it wasn't getting any use.

I got one the day it came out, I neve had any issues at all, I had all th updates done to th mirror box etc I never noticed any difference. Thing is with this camera the AF speed was fast that if you got the point slightly of target it would miss focus.

BTW I used all default AF settings and always singe point AF, IMO don't mess about with intelligent AF.

Great camera
