Interesting read and it does seem to highlight some of the short comings of the 1d mk3 in terms of cropping ability.
I suppose the best of the two turns into a 1d mk4, which is a good bit dearer.

For me personally, that review sends me in the opposite direction, yes the 7D has more leeway with crop, but if your cropping to 100% and achieving those images, not that impressed, other major fact, the 7D is noisier because you're cramming more MPs onto a smaller sensor, sorry the 1D MKIII still streets ahead for ISO, autofocus and shutter lag, but at the end of the day do you want a 1.3x crop or a 1.6x crop because the 7D still a capable camera. My 1D MKIIn starting to show its age and I'm considering the upgrade, but it will be a 1D not a 7D
