1D4 button fallen off!

Hi guys and gals
The exp comp (+-) on the top right, between the light and ISO buttons, has fallen off. There is just the rubber O ring left, and a hole!
Question is, should I bother to fix it? I never use the exp comp button, ever. I am most bothered about weather sealing really - I was wondering if a small piece of gaffer tape might be the business?
I have no idea how the button may have come off, I am assuming it must be on a stalk of some kind and has snapped? Not been dropped, the only thing I can think is the long lens strap kind of flicking it off.
Any thoughts?

It might still be under warranty...........how old is it?
 
The stalk appears to be held in place at the bottom by a very small circlip. If the stalk has snapped and the remainder still in place then I think you'll be okay. If the circlip has come off and the whole stalk has gone then there may be a concern that the circlip is still in there and will end up somewhere it shouldn't be.

If its just under 2 years old and was bought in the UK then it's still under warranty so I'd get it fixed if it was me.

If you can get it fixed under warranty then I'd definitely get it done as it could significantly affect the resale value later down the line. :)
 
warranty fix if you can.. got to say I ahve never used the button on any camera.. i depress for focus then turn the wheel for exposure compensation.. works the same.. never needed the button.

Mine did the same on my 1dsmk3, got it done under warranty when it was in for the oil spots recall.
