1D4 charging

Hi, if I'm travelling, can I charge the 1d4 via a USB cable? Looking to save weight/space where I can, charger is bulky and ideally I would like to leave it behind. Manual is buried in loft, does anyone know? Tried googling it, nothing conclusive.

Jonathon, The battery will not charge via the usb on the 1D4, it has to be charged off the camera. The charger in this link seems to fit the bill for what you require. I have no experience of it but it is cheap enough.

I can think of no other option if you do not want to use the big LC-E4 charger which itself will take a 12V input.

I was thinking of taking a gamble myself as I have a need for a compact LC-E4 charger. I have just put a deposit on the new 1Dx so may wait and see if there is one available that will do the new battery as well as the old, have to wait till March for that....pretty difficult waiting this length of time.
