Anybody use EOS utilitys with their 1dmk11n? It won't see my camera and I have instead been using the 'camera window' software supplied but it keeps crashing. I know I can use a card reader but would rather use utilitys if possible.

I'm using the latest s/w that came with my 50D and it doesnt see my 1DMk2 either, so I have mailed Canon as they indicate there is an earlier s/w that should work on their website but it wont install, my guess is it doesnt like my OS (Vista HP). I await their reply as I need to change some of the user custom settings.

I'll post their reply if/when it arrives.

The word from Canon is that I need the original s/w (which the seller should have, he doesnt) but is available from their website, which it isnt.
Now, assuming I had the s/w originally and its been damaged where would that leave me, I know up **** creek without a paddle.

So, sorry but cant help you and I'm guessing that if I do get an old copy it wont work with Vista HP, although I seem to remember you can 'fiddle it' so windows thinks its an earlier version.

i connected my mk2n (when i had it) through firewire and vista (using eos utility) and didnt have any compatability issues. Cant remember what version it was though.

I'll have a google and see what i can find.
 
have a look here on the usa site. It has an eos utility from 2008.

Mines a Mk2 (not N) and my pc doesnt have firewire, is firewire a 'must have'

i think so if you want to use eos utility, cant remember what the usb was for but you cant change the personal settings or transfer pics through it.
 
thanks for the link I will try it later. I too am running Vista and bought a firewire card and installed it, this let me add the origional software - camera window (you need to connect the camera at the end and it wasn't possible to use usb) i needed firewire to complete the setup but I also wanted to add my name into the camera as i thought this would transfer to the exif data - which it didn't :'( I find the connection with the firewire cable and camera window unreliable hence wanting to try utility.
 
is this what I need?
WFT Utility 3.5 for Windows - the other stuff listed as eos utility also says updater, i assume this is to update a version rather than the full thing?

no thats for the wireless file transmitter. Ive gone back through the list and what i thought was the older eos utility was the pdf manual sorry!
