Is it possible to some how disable a 1dmk2 or 1dmk2n from using the CF card?

Or can the 1dmk2's not use Extreme 3 cf cards?

Confused as to why my oldish 1dmk2 and newly aquired 1dmk2n will not register any of my 6 extreme 3 CF cards but works pefectly fine on the SD slot.:shrug:

How big are the Extreme III CF cards?
I use 4 Gig Extreme III CF and SD cards in my 1DmkII without trouble.
Is your firmware up to date?

Got a few 1gb, and a few 4gb cards 8 in total. Cards work in the 40d.

Firmaware 1.1.2

My 1DmkII has Firmware 1.2.6 (latest, I believe.)
Try flashing the Firmware and see if that helps.

russdaz - can you clarify are you using the 1dmk2 or 1dmk2n or both.

if using the 1dmk2 then upgrade the firmware to 1.2.6 and see if the issue exists.

if using the 1dmk2n then you are using the latest firmware of 1.1.2.

i have 2 1dmk2n and both use extreme 3 and 4 cards upto 8gb with no problems what so ever.

One of the changes in the firmware was to do with reading newer cards. Update to the latest one and that should solve it. I use 16GB Extreme III's on both my Mk2N's without problem on the latest firmware. They are the older versions, not the bang up to date faster versions though.

Both the 1dmk2, and the 1dmk2n. Will have to check the firmware on the 1dmk2 later

Thanks, all mine are the faster Extreme 3, just though it odd that neither camera will see them. Its not a major issue these days as i use a portable HD.
