1Dmk3 Terminal Dust Covers

i bought my 1D with no rubber dust/weather cover on the usb/video port. no biggy i thought, theyll be cheap.. which it was in the grand scheme of things.

however the replacement part arrived today ive come to fit it... can i get it on? can i

has anyone replaced one of these before? in the pic below you can see the little rubber post that fits into the body but its almost like it wont go deep enough in for it to stay put. i cant see anything impeading it either..

any ideas??

May just be a tight fit, give it a wiggley wiggle.

just doesnt want to go in and stay in..

Is it exactly the right size in all other aspects? Do the plugs fit securely into the slots?

i think looking at the pic of the cover if you look on the end of the post it has like a ridge to stop it coming out.. so to get it in you have to over-insert it for that to latch on..
