1Dmkii shutter repair.

My 1D spat out a shutter blade this weekend, so need to get it repaired.

I have tried Fixation and Colchester cameras, who have both given me quotes. But does anyone have any other repair centres that they recommend I try?

Canon at Elstree put a new shutter in my 1Ds for £220 +VAT, really quick turnaround (estimate on the day they received it, work commenced that day, completed the next day, shipped and back to me on day 4).

I would deffo get it off to Canon Fixation are so hit and miss, sometimes they are fast sometimes they are polite sometimes they are rude, sometimes they take 6 weeks. Canon on the other hand have always turned stuff around within a week..... Can't be bad.

When that happened to my old mk2 Fixation sorted it fairly quickly. I think it was about £150.

Fixation
Cost to replace the shutter unit would be app £190 labour and £98 shutter plus mirror spring at £9.00 plus VAT and postage if required.

Turn around time is 3 to 4 working days.


Colchester
The cost to replace a shutter unit is as follows:-

Labour : £150.00 +vat
Parts : £93.66 +vat
PP+ Ins : £11.00 +vat


This price will include a complete strip down full check, clean, calibration and six month warranty.

For your information, our current turn around time is roughly a week to ten days
