Has anyone anything to say after having the latest focus fix repaired by Canon. Mine is all boxed up and ready to be collected.

Sent 2 1dMk3's back but only one needed any adjustment. TBH I wasnt aware of any problem with the body prior to this! CPS Collected on Monday, one body returned by Thurs and second on Friday same week.

Sounds like a well organised repair service. My 1Ds Mk3 occasionally gives out of focus results using focus points other than the centre one. Am not too concerned about it, but since there is a repair on offer I will take it. Do they mark the body in any way to indicate there has been a repair effected (future resale value) and do they clean the sensor?

You are emailed of a collection day and once received notified of any corrections needed. I also received an email that bodies had been dispatched and expected day of delivery. Not sure if this was standard as CPS member as they do try for 3 day turnaround. When arranging collection I had requested return within the week though as both bodies were needed for the weekend. Yes sensor clean was included.

You send the camera (1ds III) in a bomb proof package covered in sponge etc....Canon return it it a tatty cardboard box with scrunched up brown paper as protection:cuckoo:

No noticable difference post recall.

Mine came back well packed no complaints about the service.

Collected Tuesday 21 April. Confirmed arrival Wed AM. Checked and ready for dispatch Wed PM, Collected by UPS Thursday: Arrived Friday 11 AM .

Good News: No fault found. Which is what I suspected, but doesn't do any harm to check

Thanks for the replies. I have put mine in original box surrounded by bubblewrap, then put this box inside a larger box, again surrounded by bubblewrap. I hope they take as much care when they return it to me.

I've noticed a big difference in the focusing on mine and as a bonus canon start the warranty again.

Do you mean that you get a further 12 months on the whole body, or just on the repair ? If so, that is commendable of them.

I haven't noticed any difference with mine since it came back.

Mine was fine before the fix, fine after it apart from the fact that three shoots later it developed the Err99 problem :bang:

What was the end result with the err99?

Well.... UPS picked up my 1Ds MkIII on 20th May, promising it would be with Canon on 21st May. It then went all over the country.... Sedgefield....Preston.......Inverness......Glasgow.......Tamworth......Watford......and eventually got to Canon Elstree on the 26th May. When I rang UPS for an explanation they said...oh, it must have been put on the wrong lorry......and chuckled. I am now reassured by Canon that the camera is indeed in their possession, and I will be informed when it is to be be sent back home to me.....after its mini holiday. Assuming of course, that UPS can manage to find my house.

Camera back from focus fix. Checked micro adjustment needed on my lenses. 70/200 was previously -5. 24/70 was previously +5. Both are now 0. Haven't yet been able to take any shots at all to try camera out (Family circumstances) but am looking forward to it when I get the time.
