Hi All,

I am guessing the answer is a simple NO but is there any improved firmware or hacked firmware which allows the writing of separate files to each card?

I know this wasn't introduced until the 1D MkiiN but this is the only issue I have with this camera (and I currently shoot ONLY to CF as its too slow to write to SD)

I am not aware of any way I'm afraid. No hacks were available for the old OS.

The SDs are slow, but if you get the very fastest class 10 one it is actually very usable, unless you need to continuously shoot multiple frames.

Ditto not aware of anything, nor can you shot CF then upload onto SD later in-camera (which would have been nice).

Hi Both,

That's what I thought :(
I also thought that the camera is a limitation in writing to the card, not the card itself, I can't remember where but I read a bunch of test speeds on-line and above 20mb/s or something the camera couldn't go any faster (even with the latest firmware)

I did do some tests with a 11 shot burst (raw + full size jpg) and to the CF it was about 11 seconds, to the SD I think it topped out over 25 seconds.

The SD was an 8GB extreme 30mb/s
The CF was an 8GB extreme UDMA 60 mb/s

I would be very tempted to get another SD card if you guys could prove a faster speed!!

Although the main reason I ask is I'm going to get an eye-fi card to fire jpgs over to my ipad as 2" of screen just doesn't cut it sometimes! Although in this case this would mostly be for landscape so speed isn't an issue obviously!
