1Ds vs 1DmrkII

The 1D2 better at high ISO and has higher FPS... but it isn't full frame.

1DS is full frame
1DII is 1.3 Crop

1DS is 3 fps max 10 JPEG or RAW
1DII is 8.5 fps max 40 JPEG or 20 RAW

What do you want to shoot ?

I'm selling a 1DmkII right now so could be seen as biased, but I sold a 1Ds soon after getting it as it was just too slow to use (for most things, not just sports). Write speeds are especially poor on the 1Ds. I found a 5D a much better full frame option although there isn't too much between them IQ-wise. The 1D mkII is just much faster to work with than the 1Ds (and battery life is better), and the AF is a stunning step up from the 5D. The 1DII is a nice compromise I find.

Also you cant zoom in on the images in preview to check the focus with the 1ds.

Your better off with a 1d mk2 or 5d.

I was out in the rain today with my 1Dmk2 and 5D, the 5D stayed in the car, the 1D and 70/210 were my weapons of choice given the circumstances, never missed a beat. Is the 1Ds water "resistant"? Does it matter for what you want to do with it?

Hi all the reason for asking is, some of you know my history :cuckoo: for the first time in a long time since my accident i have some cash in my back pocket, canon bob knows and a few others, getting back on my feet, i am like a kid in a sweatshop, and my son number 1 has the bug as well, for both of us it's so we can get together again after me being so absent in mind and body, it' something we can both share,

we are going to be busy doing Lot's of photography, motor sport, cage fighting, down at the gym guys training (god how they pose) wildlife, really throw ourselves into it, that's why i have some silly basic, and some fine line questions, thanks all

In that case get a 1DMk2, they're tough fast reliable and the IQ is very good by comparison to a 1.6 crop and not much down on a FF (in my experience). The rear screen isnt much to write home about and the double button menu system can be a pain (unless, like me, your a weirdo and like it).
