1Dx delayed until May?

Apparently there are lots of software/firmware tweaks going on, no issues with the hardware.
 
The D4 is delayed but will still b shipping in March (in France at least..).

I don't believe Canon have said why it's delayed but for goodness sake. They announce 6 months ahead of shipping it, then only announce the delay AFTER the D4 is announced.

Call me cynical...

About fixing or implementing the f/8 function that could actually be possible.
As they have announced it would not work, they could instead make it possible in the software, with the remark "AF not guaranteed".
Of course this depends on the AF construction

Well, you will think so but, At the CPS show last October I asked Jim Frankie about F/8 AF, He said that the hardware does not support it. Then I asked about the possibility of software implementation with the "AF not guaranteed" caveat.... His response was stark, " It will not be possible to implement f/8 AF at any stage. This is due to limitations of the new AF system hardware".
I think the delay maybe due to the Japanese Earthquake and Thai floods but, I might be wrong....
 
In Canon's case, I hope for their sake the delay is not AF related. One more AF fiasco and their Pro-Range DSLR division will go under... Fast!
Nikon must be licking their lips with anticipation.....

That's sad to hear :'(
 
99% of folks will have a perfectly good camera that already takes great pictures - with creative and technically sound input from the user. These new cameras won't change that. So I wouldn't worry to much about when they turn up - just keep taking great shots with what you have.
