1DX Here I Come....

Its been a long while since I have been on here, both family and work life has so manic the last few years that I have hardly touched a camera, let alone come on here, but after being blessed with a son 3 months ago, I have caught the bug again!

This has now resulted in me upgrading the 1D MKIII to a 1DX, which I'm getting tomorrow, and I'm all excited now :)

So, the question is, will I see such a big difference between the two, and secondly is there a big draw to a FF camera, whats the benefits of this over the 1D MKIII?

I went from two mk3s to two mk4s and the difference was massive for me.. especialy the ISO capabilities.. I then went from 2 mk4s to two 1dxs and the difference from 4 to x was massive... thus the difference from mk3 to 1dx will be absoloutly stunning..

If your taking pictures of plant pots in your back garden on a nice day you wont see that much difference ..if your taking pictures indoors with no flash you will see amasive differnce..

What you shoot will determine what the differnce is.. for me mk3 to 1dx is phenominal...

you have more megapixels.. people say dont get hung up on this.. but it makes a differnce when using primes and not control over distance such as in sports.... lots of other things but for me the differnce is the ISO capabilites.. OMG ... your mkIII is poor over 2000 maybe 2500 at a push... then really goes downhill... wiht the 1dx i start indoors at 64000 knowing i wont need any noise reduction..happy to double the to 12800 and just use dust/scratches in photoshop to clean up.. nothing major...

oh and in simple..very smple terms.. all your lenses become shorter :)
 
Well.... I've only had a little play with it since picking it up and it's fair to say I'm impressed!
The menu is a lot different to the 1D3 so need to have a good play with it to set it up, but it seems super fast, and I thought my old body was good.

Gutted, I'm out at Chester races all day tomorrow on a session, and Sunday will no doubt be a bad day for my head, so it looks like Monday is when I will get to play with it, so looking forward to throwing the 100mm f2.8L on it and using the boy as a subject.

Didn't realise just how much I'd missed shooting until this last week it so

Yeah the lenses are smaller, but the images just seem to capture so much, really impressed.

Looking forward to testing the ISO on it as my old body wasn't the greatest
