hi ok its coming up to 1st holy communion time and i have got my nephews on Saturday and my god daughter on Sunday thought would be a good idea to take the camera and do a phot book for each ?
question one need about 15 good shots any tips never done this before no one is paying me but i would be a good experience i think
any tips on setting ?lens? im guessing high iso in church
should i get low in DOF ie 2.8 or should i mix the 2 ??
what about the nifty 50 i should use that shouldn't i ?
all comments will be most helpful

thanks for reply

should i go for portrait setting on cam or should i do it manually
they i think your right on the 50 - would 4gb be big enough or would you get another ?
now then setting

should i go for spot metering ?
what about autofocus ? af-s , af-a ,af-c
i have a minolta 2.8 18-35mm i take that just in case might be good

only advice I can add is talk to the priest first he may have opinions on what is and isn't acceptable on the day

Hi Paul, I'd certainly use the nifty fifty and aperture priority at f1.8 to f4 this will enable you to use a low iso to minimise noise. There will be no rapid movement so use AFS and focus on eyes and reframe. I would not recommend spot metering unless you are experienced with it. Stck to Matrix.

Check your images for focus by magnifying up on LCD and for exposure using histogram.

Consider turning off your beep and certainly turning off the autofocus assist lamp unless subjects are aware of it.

Good luck, John

is there a rehearsal...or would the priest do the 'action' again for the camera after the event

our father des would...but he is irish
