1st timer - Bath

First attempt at city photography, met up with a good friend (byebyegti on here) in Bath yesterday just to have a play . All pics taken with my trusty OM 50mm on my Olympus E-500. Comments and tips welcome

6. Really wish I waited for the car to get out the way and moved away from the bollards

As said, my first time at shooting in public place, any advise on how to improve welcome

1,2 & 4: the lead lines in the pictures take your eye away from the part in focus, towards out-of-focus elements which - to me - is quite confusing.

3. is the sharpest, all the others look soft.

6. needs straightening up as it is leaning to the right.

I assume the desaturated look on all of them (except 3) is intentional?

For me num 4 is the stand out shot. I agree with Anthony that when the lead in takes you to out of focus, it doesn't usually work. For me though in number 4, the way that the focal point is blurry increases the sense of mystery and danger which is already there because of the tension created by the composition.

It's nice to see a set of non 'typical' Bath shots, i.e Royal Crescent, Roman Baths and the Abbey! I like them all, but number 4 is my fave.

Thanks for the comments guys, no. 4 is my fav too. Not bad at a first attempt and some good advise for my next go

MMphotos- I was born and bread in Bath, live just on the outskirts now. Took a friend out to see the sites from a locals view, really didnt want to take the usual touristy type shots. There is a lot more to Bath than people think cant wait to have another go now
