2 Lens For 1? All Rounder

read and looked at a fair few videos

and decided on the tamron 24-70mm

but cant seam to find any used ones?!

Its not been out long you might find it difficult

You might regret this purchase but ive said my piece.

From what I gather there are bad copies of each type, but especially the early VCs. If you want to be safe, either try them both out in the shop, or if you are on a budget, go for the non-VC version. The more I read the more confused I get. I fully expect that either lens is better than my skills so I guess it does not matter.

just read both and its 50/50 for each just confused me more ha! due to price im now going for the 17-50mm,

think il go for a spanking new VC then if any issues can send back for a replacement

That's my thinking, let me know if you find it cheaper than £319 delivered at Park Cameras. For the 5 year warranty I don't think it is worth saving £30 by going grey import.

Don't think you'll get the 5 year warranty from these - I think it's on UK purchased only. As milkfloat says I don't think the £30 - 40 saving is worth it compared to the 5 year warranty, but you takes your choice.
 
Sound like a easy one to me. You wanna pay more for something you dont need that will be not as good.
 
It is the case but some people feel they need vc at this focal range, and lots of videographers use them. Its not forum heresy its magazine internet reviews. Both real world and lab tests.

I got fed up with reading articles that were 3 years old so went direct to Tamron to ask their take. Obviously they are not completely biased but they told me there is no difference optically between the VC and non-VC. They also said that in the early days a number of the VC lenses had be returned for them for calibration, which I assume backs up the theory that the VC lens used to be less sharp. Either way, I have satisfied myself and will be purchasing a new UK supplied VC version, so I have the warranty just in case.
 
There is not a faulty that makes it less sharp its inherent. You can still buy the non vc new with warranty they haven't stopped producing it because people still want it because its better. But if you really think you need VC after the majority telling you you don't, and you have satisfied yourself then happy days.

Trolling? Its called going out of my way helping and giving advice after going through the same decision myself 6 months ago, which has been ignored which is fine, but to get accused of trolling that's the thanks i get.
