20-35mm USM

I'm needing a wider lens for my 5D Mk1, seen a used Canon 20-35mm USM f/3.5 at MPB shop for £199.

Anyone have experience with a Canon 20-35mm f/3.5mm? Love to hear any views/thoughts please.

Is this the f3.5-4.5?

If so I have one, I used it on my film body.

I like it, it's quite small and compact and light and the USM is nice and although I've read critisisms of distortion I have to say that I never noticed anything significant and had no complaints. I say had as I've recently sold my film body but I kept the lens. I've tried it on my 20D and it seems perfectly fine although with the x1.6 it's not such an attractive thing on APS-C.

£199 seems a bit steep though, I think I paid about £150 for mine, from Ffords I think. I bought it after missing out on a few ebay Cosina/Tamton 19-35mm's.

I'd say £100-150 is the right ballpark for this lens. I've just bought a Tokina 20-35/3.5-4.5 which is very good if you can find one (about £100.00 used). It has good corners, all things considered, and sharpness isn't *that* far off a prime.

I've just had a quick look on ebay and there's a Canon fit Cosina 19-35mm with a buy it now price of £80.

The Canon has USM and that's nice to have but at the time I was looking I'd have bought the Cosina/Tokina/Tamron if I'd found one.
