200mm lens

Roughly how close would I need to get to take candid portrait shots with a 200mm lens on a 1.6X body?

Are you talking head shots, 3/4, full length?

As head shots require you to be closest then from about 6m for those at 200mm

There was a post recently that showed how to calculate it knowing the size of the subject... I'll try and find it

He he, I wasn't far out then:

Focal length = 0.75 x 22.2 x 6/0.5

= 199.8
