Well as the title says anyone fancy doing a 365 from Jan 01 2012?

I really want to challenge myself next year and thought this was a good way to do it! Figured we could build up a list of people and maybe have link to you Flickr 365 set when you start?
 
i am so sorely tempted to do the 365 ... after doing the 52 this year..and the Oktoberfest Prime challenge, lagged in places on the 52... maybe being constrained by themes was too much :shrug:

following Matt's progress through the year has been enlightening to the different techinique he employed so i'd encourage anyone to try it :thumbs:
 
Will have a look at matts work. I think it is time for a personal challenge so I am gearing up for it!
 
I'd certainly be interested in a challenge but would 365 be too much for me....ummm will give it some thought.
 
Have we got a blushes smiley :D I'm giving serious consideration to doing it all over again in 2012 as my challenge ends on 31/12/2011 :lol: it's worth noting that a 2012 challenge will be a 366 :coat: since it's a leap year ;)

It's a serious challenge but can be really fun :D it's very important if you go for a POTD challenge that you don't allow yourself to fall behind on editing and uploading as the backlog of work can easily overwhelm the challenge.

I will also caution anyone doing such a challenge that you will have days where you think what am I doing, why am I doing this and worst of all what the .... am I going to take a picture of days :nuts:

But if you look on it as an opportunity to try new things photographically you will get a lot from the challenge :thumbs:

Before I started this year I'd never done a star trail, I'd never done studio work or HDR or many other things that have allowed me to dramatically develop my skills :D

In fact I may very well do mine month by month... Then it won't scare me as much... 31 or 30 is far less daunting than 365 oops...sorry..366 ...lol!!
 
I tempted to do another, it has been a few years now :p If I do I will start it a bit early as I will do a "last 366 days before I turn 30" thang.
 
I'm tempted. I started a 365 but think it was to specific so it ended after 100.

I found it very hard, specifically coming up with fresh ideas.

COSTA was a great idea Andy... :thumbs: ... i collected cups to do a tribute to you and your project...but the boss threw them away... :razz:

Yeah that extra day is rather off putting :lol: but I'm considering upgrading my challenge to a cool Challenge 1,000 but I think that decision can wait till the end of 2012 :lol:
 
Glad to see we have a few thinking about it! I love the fact it will be a 366! hadnt even noticed! Looking at Matt's thread is the reason why I want to try it loads of new techniques and ideas etc just to inject a bit of fun and a challenge into my photography!

I've enjoyed following Matt's this year, I must say! Some really cool shots and some insipration for me.

I am doing my 2nd conescutive 365 this year and I fully intend to just keep going into 2012. Matt alluded to it earlier, but for me 2012 is going to be about 'Challenge 1000' and breaking the 1000 consecutive days barrier :)

I find it has really helped me to improve my photography and to think of new techniques/styles/camera modes to try and get a different shot each day!

Just thought I'd add that in any 365, there'll be days when you love doing it and several when it seems like the stupidest idea you've ever had :)

Just coming back to this after a couple of weeks and I've decided that "I'm ooot!"

I find myself taking shots that I'm not really happy with or just plain bored by some days and the enjoyment of the project is lost somewhat.

I've decided on a 52 for 2012 and maybe a few side projects along the way :)

Don't make any rash decisions lol! I wouldn't suggest doing something that you wouldn't enjoy, sounds like you have a plan good luck!
 
Haha I've been at this for nearly 700 consecutive days now. :)
Maybe the inspiration to do it every single day has dropped a little.
Certainly a 52 at the very least for 2012 though :)
 
Sorry for jumping in on this thread.

I tried 365 last year with my TZ10 and failed after 3 months.

I really struggle to find ideas as I'm not very artistic and found 99% of the daily photo's were made up of dodgy still life pictures of engine parts from my Lambrettas.

I find I have the time for the pictures, but trying to come up with something a nightmare. This was what puts me off photography. Not being imaginative enough to come up with ideas or even having the eye for a picture.

Hope that doesn't come across as a "woe is me". It's not meant to. I think the 365 I tried was setting myself up a fall. I should try something with less pressure?

I'm trying to learn and I've been scouring Flickr and other sources.

ben...i was about to agree with imagewarrior and don't be too hasty... BUT 700 :eek: ... you've got some great shots in your thread, especially the korean wedding :clap:... but i can also feel from some shots about your 'reluctance' to take a shot just for the sake it...

the 52 for me has been good with highs and lows... so go for it to focus your photography... mine is coming to a close, and as a side line i'm doing a one a day (into month 2 and going good), i've stuck to rules set out on day 1 so that be what keeping me going :shrug: ...and to top it all i'm doing a further sideline of self portraits :bonk: ..SP!! what am i thinking..but they are fun, house looks a mess...but fun

some1 said to me recently if i want to do it do it...but don't force it if the passion isn't there....
 
I did one in 2009 and, towards the end, I started to hate it ad couldn't wait for it to be over, it really was a mixture of all sorts and it became a case of taking photos just for the sake of it. I became a mod during that year and was sorely tempted to delete it the day after it was completed.

That said, I am considering doing another one but I would stick to a theme, one that doesn't involve any photos of me :gag:
 
Well it's decided, I'm doing it all over again next year :eek: :bonk: so who is with me on this challenge, it should be fun :thumbs: I think we will have to get sticky from the mods with links to everyone's 2012 Challenges, as I know although there are not that many that will be doing it it has sometimes been a little hectic trying to keep up with everyone that's doing it :D

Haha that is pretty much exactly the same for me. Really dont know why I am tempted to do it again, but think I am going to!

Cheers, I'll sort one out closer to the start of 2012 :thumbs: It's a shame that we didn't have one for 2011 but with only 50 days to go there's not a lot of point now :lol:

That is what I meant :thumbs: but they are for 2010 and as such a little out of date now ;) or have they been updated to include this year :thinking:

Yep I totally agree. I've had plenty of fun doing it, but I feel like I could easily motivate myself to go and do a set of really decent images at least once every week, whereas doing that every single day has now become a bit much.

I'll certainly do another 365 in the future, perhaps when I next go travelling or when I move to a new place with new things to see and enjoy. I find it is a great way to improve and enjoy your photography!

I'm in for a 52 in 2012 and probably some more side projects later on. :lol:
 
well december looms... and i'm still hot for SP's... it is defo too addictive not to think of a photo for the day..

this one is getting some attention on flickr and i only posted it friday..



SO!! we'll see how far i get. the 52 is defo a :shake: for 2012... a week is too long... and themes are too constrictive for my when colours are a better option at the moment ..:shrug: ..people say i have a nice little recurring theme going on..but i can't see it... maybe i'm too close to the photo to see the theme..:thumbs:

..but second thought is... if i'm posting 2 a day... then i'll be doing 365 * 2 => 732? well... actually oktoberfest was only 1 a day...so 31... then 11 at the usual rate... so...[abacus time] ... 3 take away 16 .. add 5... carry the 2... 701?? in a year... now that IS scary... i won't be able to look myself in the mirror...i'll have to take a photo just to comb my hair????
