I think I have finally decided on buying this lens (can always sell it if I don't like it)...

Now, the used prices seem to hover around £600 and kerso is listing at £690 but a white box...

I am inclined to get it from Kerso rather than waiting for a good offer on here. It'll be new as well rather than used, though not a big deal as the used lenses usually are in good condition anyways...

Does the white box actually have any difference? i.e pouch, lens hood?
 
White box 24-105L is ex-kit I think, sold with a 5D2. Mine came fully loaded, hood, bag etc, but no instruction handbook. Luckily I've managed to suss out the difference between focus and zooming :)

haha.. zoom and focus being reverse on the 24-105 (compared to my ef-s lenses), I might need the instruction handbook :D
 
mine come perfect from kerso.
only difference is if u had alot of white boxes which lens came in which!!
 
Mine is a white box too (although not from Kerso).

Been absolutely fine, mine came with everything bar the instruction book as well.
 
Got mine in a white box in December. All working well, but without the user guide. I read at some point a couple of months ago that you can download a user guide, but I cannot see one on the Canon site. Does anyone know how to do it/where it is???:|
 
As above, the white box is normally split from a kit, you can save a substantial amount of money if you are not bothered re the Canon box :thumbs:

I'd be interested in the link for the 24-105 too, was looking for the same except for the 100-400 and couldn't find that one either.
 
I got my 24-105 from Kerso a few weeks ago also supplied in a white box.
It's the same as a retail lens without the fancy box and a lot more money in my pocket.

Why is anyone fussing over a user manual?
It's a lens, unpack it removed the cap, line up the red dot on the lens with the red dot on the body and lock into place.
Remove the end cap, if required fit a filter then the hood.
Switch on your camera, chose a subject, adjust setting and take a photo.
Note, if you do not understand what the on / off switches are for IS or AF then simply return the lens, sell all your gear and buy a £100 compact camera. :D

The handbook for your 100-400L has some specific stuff about the IS which is first generation without tripod sensing.

Basically turn it off as it can drift a bit during long exposures.
 
I was in the same position as you few days earlier, after much research, mainly reading this forum I have decided to get it from Kerso. He's gonna post it tomorrow and it should arrive on Wednesday. I CANNOT wait!!

Quite true!

I just would have preferred the manual to see if there are any recommendations from Canon to go with it etc.:D
