24-105mm or 28-300mm

It's not like either of them is irreplaceable? Without knowing what you photograph and what other lenses you have, it's a 50/50 proposition.
 
i do alot of photography, studio, weddings, events mainly.

the issue with the 28-300mm is the weight but the images are fantastic
the issue with the 24-105mm is that the focal length isnt enough.

these are the only 2 lenses i have. I use the 24-105 for studio and the 28-300 for weddings and events.

hence why im confused. lol
 
If you bought the 28-300mm new, you might as well keep it. You'll lose over a grand selling it on - eBay average for a used one is about £1100 vs. £2200 to buy it new. The 24-105mm only loses about a quarter of its new price.

There is a reason for both those facts, it has to be said.
 
I would sell them both and get a 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 ... or keep the 24-105 and add the 70-200/2.8. If weight is an issue, the 70-200/4L IS is light AND amazing.

Do you really need 300mm?
 
If you do weddings you do have 2 bodies, right?

Keep 24-105mm on one of them. Sell 28-300mm which will more than cover 70-200mm f/4L or perhaps an IS or f/2.8 one? That will go on the other body. BTW 200mm IQ will be much better on 70-200mm, even when extrapollated to 300mm.
 
I have a suggestion, Adam.

If "your" 28-300 is actually the one you hired from LensesForHire but didn't return, then we'd like it back please. The police have suggested that we give you a chance, and ask nicely, before they come and pay you a visit.

To refresh your memory, you told us that you'd sent it back via Parcel Force, but it didn't arrive. And rather inconveniently you said you had lost your proof of postage.

Anyway if this isn't our 28-300, then please feel free to post a picture of it with its serial number. Though in a sense it doesn't matter, because you still owe us a mint-condition 28-300. We'd be happy to have this one in exchange for ours.

Oh he stole from you direct? Didn't realise he had that much front.
I lost a large muslin to him, though I'm thankful that is all, he had access to all my studio gear.
