Double question thread here!
Firstly, I've done searches but I want some direct thoughts.
I need a lens for when my 80-200 is just a bit long - I'm photographing things like dogs/horses and portraits mostly so for the latter especially I know longer is more flattering, however obviously the extra leeway on 18mm over 24mm is an issue. Basically I want some thoughts on which part is more of an advantage. I will note I am very slowly setting up in business so the flattering side may be more important. May also be for events and such depending how things go.
I will add, the lens will have to be sigma/tamron due to funds if that has an impact. This is for my D90.
The 2nd side... Especially in the sigma 18-50 vs tamron 17-50 contest, the online reviews seem to be pretty equal, so wondering if anyone has actually owned or used both and found 1 to be better?
Also any experience of both of their 24-70 lenses against each other?
And yes I know the nikon versions will be better image quality but I just can't afford them for the foreseeable future, and I want something better than my 18-105.
