Hi peeps

I have owned a decent copy of this lens since the start of the year and use it on a 5d mk II.
I'm not sure it's as sharp as it should be at 70 wide open, I have MA'd it but I still think there maybe some sharpness still to be had.
Basically if I wanted the lens calibrated by a Canon repair centre within warranty period would I have to pay for this?
Thanks for any advice Tony

nope. the only thing you'll have to pay for is the delivery of the item to Canon.

Many thanks, anyone know of a decent repair agent in the South east of England that could do this for me.I was thinking of Fixation, any experience peeps especially regarding calibration results.

regards and thanks Tony

I would just send it to Canon.

sorry to jump in on this, but what 'proof' do Canon need for them to agree to calibrate a lens (or several lenses) to a camera during warranty period?

I guess what I'm getting at is if I think a lens (Canon obviously) isn't as sharp as it should be and I've tried to take out user error/technique (e.g. mounted on tripod, manually focussed, mirror lockup, remote trigger etc.) then do they just say "send it us and we'll sort it" or do they need 'extra' proof?

Im not sure i could answer that one but i suppose its better than taking it to a retailer and badgering them for a replacement. To be fair i cracked the lens out again today and after a little improvement in technique its pretty sharp.

How would i send it to Canon, or do you mean a Canon approved repairer like Fixation?

Many thanks Tony

Hi

I'd send to Canon Elstree, if you phone them up and explain, they will tell you how to send it too them.

Cheers Andy, I'll have another good shoot with it and if I'm not quite satisfied I'll follow your advice.
Tony
