24-70mm F2.8 does it come with a hood?

It does if you get the Canon or Sigma ones, I'm assuming the same goes for Nikon? The make in question would probably help a bit :D

Yes...EW-83F on a Canon version
 
all nikon zom lenses other than the kit 18-55 and 28-80 lenses come with hoods where applicable, they're not pikey like canon...
 
If it's Canon, I think most if not all Ls come with a hood & soft carry case.
 
Canon really are buggers for that... but ALL their L series lenses (of which the 24-70 is one of) come with 'oods.
 
And the hood effectively 'zooms' on that lens. V nice touch.

It's optimum both at 24mm and 70mm (which is why it's so big).
