been looking at the canon 24 - 70mm mk2 .. Does anyone have one if so what is your opinion ..

I have a 70 - 200 mk 2

so thought with those to lens i could maybe sell my
24mm 1.2
24 - 105
sigma 24 - 60

as i would have two lens to cover the range .. not sure what to do ... and advice would be appreciated ..
 
I'm not sure if they're out yet, there's been a delay on production.

You will struggle getting mk1 for sensible money now. They are out of production now and ebay prices are now above the old 'new' prices.

It is a fine lens, very contrasty, and sharp (stopped down obviously) but the lens assembly can wear out fairly quickly (£130 to fix - so if buying used you may as well add it to the bill).

Personally I'd wait for mk2 now as it seems all-round better lens or perhaps try to get Tamron a bit cheaper. Personally I'm keeping mk1 because I don't need to buy it!

Updated sales start date for EF 24-70mm F2.8L II USM lens

London, UK, 5 July 2012 – Canon would like to advise of an updated sales start date for the previously announced EF 24-70mm F2.8L II USM lens. Due to a further delay to the start of mass production, the EF 24-70mm F2.8L II USM lens will now be available from September 2012.

Canon would like to apologise for this delay and any inconvenience caused to customers.
