Looking advice please for a used 24mm or 28mm manual focus lens for my EOS 5D Mk1 body, the cheaper the better.
Pentax/Olympus or whatever anyone else has experience with please.

Budget below £50 or thereabouts.

Any thoughts/advice/experience most welcome.
 
A really good 24mm is the Nikon Ai/ais 24/2.8 or even the older non-ai version is pretty smart. It's going to cost more like £100.00 though. For your budget you are looking at a Tamron Adaptall-2 24/2.5 or cheaper still a Hoya/Vivitar/Tokina 24/2.8 which isn't as great in the borders.

As for 28mm lenses, I've not so much experience. Again, the Hoya/Vivitar/Tokina 28/2.8 is OK, while the Tamron Adaptall-2 28/2.5 is always reliable and good value. The Olympus OM 28/3.5 may well give better results, but I've never tried it. I do like the Pentacon 29/2.8 but there is tremendous copy variation and it took me 7 attempts to find a good one!
 
I've used my Zuiko 28mm f2.8 on my 5Dc via a cheap adapter from ebay and it seemed to give good results.

Focus confirmation adapters are available, although I didn't know when I bought mine :razz:

If no magnified view or other focus aid is available I'm not a fan of manual lenses on DSLR's unless the subject is big in the frame.
