Hi, which other bodies use the same sensor as the d90?
I want a d90 with a medium tele(24-70) and an other bodie with a 70-200.

I was after a cheaper body, otherwise i cant afford it.

It looks like the d5000 and d3100 use the same sensor, some of the newer cameras use more megapixeles

I would pick up a D300 to be honest or a D200. If you pick up a D300 you could make this your main body and keep the D90 as backup.

The Dxx00 are all well and good (and number of Mpx is not everything at all!) but they are consumer bodies and lack motor control for older lenses plus weather protection and build is not quite as good. You can pick up a D200 with lens for £400 or a D300 with kit lens for £550. If you are feeling flush then another £100 or so might get you a D300s. All three of these bodies are well worth considering and are all 10 Mpx+.
 
I agree with Cowasaki - get a used D300 with a few clicks on the counter or get a D200 in good nick. I wouldn't get too hung up on megapixels per se....

What are you shooting? That could dictate what you go for :)
 
I use a local studio for family type stuff, occasional weddings(main reason for second body) anything really

There is little between a D200 and D300 at < ISO 400 so in the studio there is not a lot to split them (I have both and a D700). At 640-1200 ISO the D300 is better. Neither is spectacular at high ISO, that is where the newer models have come in.

The D200/D300 also beat the D80/D90 on access to settings/controls etc. I've used a D200 & D300 combination for a wedding before and neither of them had any issues.

They are both decent cameras.
 
Sadly i`m just selling my gpz900 so i can purchase a couple of lenses and possibly a body, i will have a good look at the 200

How much will that clear you to spend?
 
Its on evilbay, so in the hands of the gods and my d90 was dropped with my sigma 24-70 2.8 on(by my wife) which dented the front filter rim and now the focus is loose and not at all sharp, so may have to claim on the household ins for that which will allow more of the gpz fund to go on a body and poss a lens.
Ideally I ned a 50 1.4, 24-70 and 70-200

I have the 50 1.4 & 24-70 the reality is that there are few situations where you will use the 50 if you have the 24-70 ! That's my experience of it anyway :)
