2nd Camera body advice

Hello

I have been doing wedding photography for a few years with a Nikon D300 and a Nikon D7000. Last year I stopped and got rid of my D7000. However I am now going to shoot some more weddings this summer. I am tempted to buy another D7000 as they are cheaper than they have ever been and it was a great camera. However the D7200 is also out but costs a lot more. Is it a much better camera? So I am unsure. If I did get the D7200 I would also have to upgrade lightroom as I hear the D7200 when shooting RAW is not compatible with older versions of lightroom 4.

Any input would be great on which I should get or any other Nikon bodies. Currently I think the main issue is cost.

I went from d7000 which I have for sale now, to a d7200. I'm not sure I notice too much difference tbh. It could be better at higher ISO but I've not really noticed a dramatic increase. Higher MP is always welcome if you're birding like I am but I suspect at a wedding you don't need to crop massively so that wouldn't be too much of an improvement.

With regards to lightroom, I think you're correct about that as Photoshop cs3 was not compatible with my d7200 NEFs. You can always convert to DNG to get around that as far as I'm aware though.

Personally for the price difference I'd go for the d7000.
 
Thanks Htid and BBR. Yeah I might have a look at getting another D300. I already have one which I use as the main body and I could get another used one that is in good nick. Thanks for your help.
 
I'll second a used d300/s The handling and controls are so much better than anything else in the dxxxx range.
Plus you are already familiar with it and don't have to carry around with you 2 sets of batteries & chargers on every shoot.
Calumet do a years guarantee on used goods.
The biggest difference I have found with older cameras is simply the ISO. Depends on how and what you shoot if its an issue for you. And, of course, budget.
 
Thanks Deadlock. Just had a quick look at D300s and they are quite cheap. I quite like shooting in natural light and only using the flash when I have to and the D300 has always been great in low light, I find it better than the D7000. I imagine the D300s is better. My only concern would be getting a used camera as my D300 came used. I've had no issues with it but I might be a good idea to have a new body on me as well or make sure the D300s is in excellent condition.
