2nd hand 450D for £320 or not? Option to buy at that price or should i look for something dif? Want a DSLR but can't afford more than £350.
 
If it's just for the body with no accessories, it doesn't seem that good of a deal.
 
Well the 40D are dropping down to £350 at times so worth streching to one of those instead, its what i`ll be replacing my 350D with very soon.
 
I sold my 450D for just over £250 a few months back, so that seems quite expensive.
 
it is very expensive, iirc I sold mine with a few bits and bobs for under £300
 
Agree about looking for a 40D at that price, probably be able to pick up a 500D for 350 quid too
 
I have been looking for a 450D for a mate and they seem to be holding their price at about £300-£320 with kit lens, the one that sold for £250 was a really low price. The 500D is still £450+ 2nd hand. You can often find them with additional bits like battery grips for about the same money.

Would I buy a 450D 2nd hand, yes I did and it is a pretty decent camera for the price and age and a great way in to DSLR on a budget.
 
It has the kit lens. and a years gauarantee with the camera shop.
 
What would be the Nikon that would closely match the 450D for spec etc?
 
I got a 2nd hand 450d body for £250 of ebay - about 8 months ago, so no £360 does not seem that great a deal at the moment.
 
I haven't been lucky enough to seen any at that price and dubious about buying off of ebay.
 
Get a 40D, I went from a 40D to a 350D, image wise its better, ISO is much better, however the handling is on another level, i.e controls and such, feels much more profesional all round vs the other range.

Buying form Argos outlet is absolutely fine - they are a proper business and treat their customers like buying from Argos online.
 
On ebay the 40D bodies have been going for around £320 - £350 recently, although i would find it a little more reasurring buying off here as most of them on ebay dont even list the shutter count.

The 500D was massively better though - more refined AF (I think), higher ISO by quite a large margin, video etc etc. Having owned one I can vouch for the 450D being a really great camera, it's just a shame its ISO was capped at 1600. I could shoot at 1600 and get perfectly clean images, it was capable of so much more.

Its surprising what you can need, the main reason im upgrading is for better low light capabilities. Not only it being able to go to a higher ISO but having less noise at the lower ISO`s than my current camera.
If im taking photos of the kids in the evenings inside i find that i need to bump up the ISO quite a bit unless i want to use the flash, thats with a 50mm 1.8 too.

Depends on what you shoot.

I regularly go to 3200 on my camera - but cameras that are usable higher up the range generally have a cleaner ISO1600
 
You won't go far wrong with a 40D. I've never had a noticable problem at IS1600.

Saying that, I would like to upgrade to a 50D.
