2x III TC on Canon 600mm with stacked Kenko 1.4x DGX @ 1680mm (2184mm effective)

Got back from my holidays and now that I have both the Canon 2x III and Kenko 1.4x DGX I thought I try them together on the 600mm.

NOTES:
1. The combo reports the correct EXIF (1680mm)
2. The combo Autofocuses on the 1DIV even though the aperture is f11! (this has always been the case with the DGX TC's, they report the correct EXIF AND AF on any aperture given there is enough light).

Shot taken at low light (4.11pm) 1/30", ISO3200, f13, handheld

Shots below is the full frame resized to 1024x768 and an 100% crop.
Levels tweaked BUT NO SHARPENING has been done.

That looks pretty impressive, I'm intigued how you managed to handhold that at 1/30 and keep it sharp, surely you were resting on something.
 
Handheld @ 2184mm with 1/30 ? Are you a statue ??????

Very clean pics though...looks like a dog's been at that ball :)

I was resting my right elbow on my chest and, admittedly, I took a number of blurry ones before the sharp one came along :D

Was too lazy to set up the tripod but will do that very soon and take some more :thumbs:
 
Yeah, Michael is the handholding master, I tried to handhold his 600mm/1DIV combo and I couldn't get close to taking a sharp photo at 600mm 1/125, in which case he wouldn't even consider it a hard thing to do!

Interesting stuff though Michael, I would love to see the same combo at 100% properly on a tripod with MLU at lower ISO.

Makes my 2x MkIII shots look crap. Mine were on a zoom though :p
 
I picked up a Kenko 1.4x DGX last week as a cheapo stop gap for £40 until I can afford a decent version, and I have to say that I'm rather impressed with it; especially given the fact that it will work on almost any lens, thus turning my 50mm /1.4 into a 70mm /2 etc. :D
