I done a fair bit of research into this recently and decided it's not a good time for me to upgrade from my mkIII to the mkIV. If you can get a mkIV cheap then go for it, but the difference between them is tiny to be honest (I managed to get to use the mkIV side by side for a while to compare). I will be keeping my mkIII till the new 1d comes along.
