Number 1, as a direct result of TP's pic size restrictions, I've leant how to re-size pictures using photobucket. Something so simple, yet incredibley useful!

Number 2, bouncing a flash is ace. I bought my first ever flashgun last week and I'm kicking myself because I didn't do it sooner!:bang:

Number 3, the Sony 18-70mm kit lens is crap!

Anyone else learnt anything over the last week or so??

1 - Never eat yellow snow

2 - There's a department within our garisson that will print all my images for work better than our laser printer will

3 - My 55-200 kit lens, though not bad at all, is rather soft at the long end.

4 - Combe Martin is lovely and will be the destination on my next sunny long weekend off.

1. the french are not as bad as everyone makes out to be
2. shooting with plastic 'toy' cameras is interesting and fun
3. i prefer my canon to my fuji :suspect::eek:

1 - getting your missus up the duff means you have to prioritise

2 - getting your missus up the duff means you feel even more guilty about eyeing up a Nikon 12-24mm

3 - getting your missus up the duff is the greatest feeling in the world :)

4 - Hull City are on the road to relegation so I may have to turn my amber and black shirt into a Wolves one for the 09/10 season :)

Is there a congrats in order in this message, if so well done on your news, at least you will have something to get the camera out everyday.

Check lens cap is off before shooting
Remember whether you just replaced the lens cap, or it was on for the three frames you just shot.

Don't be distracted by trains, even if they're intent on killing you, or you might have to shoot 6 frames instead of 3....:gag:

1, relise sooner that the girlfriend was joking when she mentioned a nude photo shoot... :'( :(

... i got so excited and all :'( was practically leaping for my flash gun...

1 - Never eat yellow snow

I know that I really shouldn't ask, but curiosity has got the better of me.......

HOW exactly did you work this out?

1 when you buy roofing material you are always 1 piece short.
2 my car isn't four wheel drive, and won't climb a very muddy track.
3 when you have to reverse half a mile down a narrow muddy track, it helps if the back of your car isn't full of roofing stuff, blocking your view. ;)

1. Teenagers will NEVER update anti-virus defs.
2. Teenagers will ALWAYS ignore the little Windows Updates notification.
3. Teenagers WILL bleat and moan when they can't get on "mymsnface" because the stupid computer is riddled with viruses. (virii?)

1. Never unlock the boot of your estate car with just the remote boot open button - especially if you are intending on taking the dog for a walk :bonk:

2. Wet Paint is an advisory notice and NOT an instruction...

3. ...as is a "Press" badge attached to a womans breasticle area :naughty:

1. Skegness is not the worlds number one holiday destination

2. not all shirts shrink in the wash, ocassionally it is your wase that expands.

3. if their is only one sit down toilet in the restaurant it is the one that you need urgently due to impending turtle head syndrome, but it is in use!!

Ha! Yes, our old local had a ladies darts team who all had their names on the tee-shirts in the breastish type area. The team captain was named Pat. :whistling:

1. That people think you take good photos because of the camera.

2. That, this is really annoying because it implies all you have to do in press a button.

3. Convince my wife its all about the camera and the lens so that she wont complain when I upgrade my equipment :D

1. Reverse ring macro shots are tricky in the dark!

2. The kites in my area know when I do not have my camera on me and they hover very low, when I have my camera they stay too high for the reach of my lens. :bonk:

3. I should have bought a better bag for my camera rather than buying such a small over the shoulder job. I should have known id buy a second lens soon ish.

1. TP has also got me to learn how to resize pics this week:clap:

2. I have learned how little I know about post processing

3. 'Photographs do not bend' is an instruction not a statement!

1. Scaffolding poles are always two feet longer than the truck's bed.
2. Camera bags end up being carried empty whilst I hold the camera.
3. The camera always has black and white film in it when I find a colourful scene.

Steve.

1. Not to put film in a DSLR
2. Listen to the rules
3. Break the rules

3 more from the last week or so..........

1. Expensive, well padded camera bags, are worth every single penny!!

2. I need another 500GB external hard drive!:help:

3. I hate Christiano Ronaldo more than I ever thought possible:razz:

1 - never offer to do a big favour while drunk - they remember it even if you don't :bonk:

2 - Lastolite have some crazy deals on sometimes (went to buy a silver brolly, shop said £52 and they had a translucent one in for £35 - but the offer was £48 for both !!! I bought both even though I may just throw the translucent one away and will still have saved money - nutty deal)

3 - whenever you buy 1 silver brolly you realise you should have bought 2 :(

4 - translucent brollies can be useful too, especially ones that cost you minus £4s

1. You can get some really interesting shots using an old 2Mpixel camera on self timer thrown into the air.
2. Make sure you can throw straight and catch
3. If you can't then don't do this whilst standing on anything hard, such as a block paved driveway :D

*heads outside with Sony P&S*

1. Use larger apertures to increase DOF
2. Invest in a flash gun instead of eyeing up new lenses
3. The Giottos 'Q-Balls' are awesome and well worth the money

He might, but that's not what he said... :p
I'm tempted to write a quick guide...

Terrible wording on my behalf. I did indeed mean higher numbers :)

I have just finished reading the guide over in the tutorials section, well worth a look and has opened my eyes to many aspects of photography.

1. Don't trust the salesman at calumet
2. When they say it will be in stock and I can pick it up on Tuesday, (wife packs up the 2 babies and drives all the way the the store on Tuesday after we confirmed delivery on the phone.)
3. It means that it isn't, and the manager will drive it to me on Wednesday...

1) Keep camera with me at ALL times - epic rainbows fade fast
2) Dogs like to lick lenses and unless drugged wont stay still
3) Learnt how to clean the lens of the camera properly

Always to make sure you have a firm hold on the camera before releasing the quick release bracket on the tripod/head.

That the new set of tyres is going to knock me back a few hundred squids

To always have camera at the ready, it is no good in the bag when a grab shot opportunity arises, like today when this huge rather obese guy at the ATM had his hand down inside the rear of his enormous denim jeans, looked like he was tugging at whatever was wedged between his butt cheeks, it would have made a great caption post:D He then proceeded to use the ATM, I decided not to withdraw any cash.
