Hope this makes sense, I find the pictures I am taking with my 30D seem softer than the ones I took with my 300D. Can anyone tell me what USM settings they use in Photoshop to get their pictures sharp?

I think the degree, level, and settings used for sharpening can't really be tied down to a particular shot. What works for one, might not be enough or too much for another.

That said...

I've been reprocessing my websized versions of my processed shots (ie ones that have already had the rotating/cropping/cloning etc work already done).

I'm finding that at the moment, smart sharpen is giving the best results so far.
I have my action to default to 75%, Radius of 1.0. Advanced options is ticked, More accurate is ticked.
Shadow > 50,50,50.....Highlight > 25, 50, 25

For some shots its too much, for others, it's not enough.
Bear in mind these are settings for a 700pixel wide image too.

Can I ask what mode you're shooting in, RAW or JPEG?
If RAW, what are you using to convert? If JPEG, what picture profile are you using?

I shoot in raw and use Photoshop CS2 covert.
