30D vs 40D

I bought a 40D for my daughter for Christmas and for her college course and I've been playing with it myself and started to get back into 'proper' photography.

I was thinking of getting myself something reasonable as well. What are the opinions of a 30D (approx £250-£300) vs a 40D (£400-£450). I know the main physical differences are: screen size, dust removal, better seals, higher pixel count, but how much of this matters day to day?

My only concern is that we are thinking of doing a safari next year and the option of dust removal seems like it might be a sensible choice.

If I went for a 30D then there would be a bit more budget available for lenses.

If you both used the same system (Nikon/Canon), you could share lenses

The 30D is a great camera but the 40D just edges it.
Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Sorry my typo - I bought her a 40D so we would both have Canon gear.

Is the 40D better at higher ISO settings or are they pretty much on par?

Hrmmmm, hard choice- 20D would give you even more cash left over for lenses, and they are built like tanks.

it is basically a 30D with a smaller screen..
