Yes
I have just bought the above lens and find it to be quite noisy when focusing. Does anyone else notice this on a D40/D40x/D60 or the newer non motor bodies?

I'm guessing the D90 etc will use their own on board motor and therefore not have this issue?

If anyone can comment.

Thanks

Dean

I have one and it's a little noisy but not too bad. All cameras will use the AFS motor in the lens.

Unless you send the AF hunting, there usually only a very short *click*. Nothing as loud as the mirror flap and the shutter mechanism.

So are you saying it is a noisy lens when the AF is hunting?

Not really. It's a bit of a high-frequency squealing sound.

If you use your AF-sensors correctly, this shouldn't happen though.

Most camera stores have a demo model. Why don't you give it a try?

The one I bought was the last one, display model from a Jessops near my work place.
My local Jessops does not have one on display at all I don't think, I might phone and check.

Cheers
