Hi everyone,

I've been looking at 35mm lenses for some time now and I was wondering if I could get some views of people on here of which one would be best to go for?

I've been looking at this sigma one but I'm unsure of whether to go for the art one instead and after having done some research I'm not sure the art will make much of a difference but please, anyone who knows I would really appreciate some guidance between the two.

Any pointers in the right direction would be really helpful. I love my Canon 1.8 but I want to expand a little and find it a little too cropped for some of the portraits I want to do I find it a little restricting sometimes. I also have the Sigma 24-70mm

Thankyou in advance for any help or suggestions

The Sigma 1.4 Art is brilliant, not much more money than the Canon f2, but a better lens in every way.

For the money, the Sigma Art 35 is VERY hard to beat. I would say to beat it, you have to triple your money and get a Canon 35L mk2.

Wow thank you all for your speedy responses! Thankyou for the little shove in the right direction with the art lens!

can anyone confirm that this is indeed the art lens and I'm not totally cracking up, have read the description but it doesn't mention it in the title, dont want to be getting the wrong one!

I mostly shoot portraits outdoors but looking for a lens that is quite versatile as I learn and grow, would you say this is a good lens for that?

FYI, if I am picking one, I would pick the Sigma 35A for 35mm under £700.

That is not even a difficult question to answer. It is built well, it is 1.4 (that bokehhhhhhhhh), it is sharp, good CA control and a nice weight. You also have it knowing there is not much else better out there, that alone should stop your upgrade urge for quite a few years.

Yes, it is the Art series, you can see the little Silver A on the left on the barrel.

I have the Sigma 35mm art, bought from this forum. Heard great reviews and I wasn't disappointed. I'd recommend it.
