hi, does anyone use a 3rd party grip on their 40D.............if so which model / make and how do you find it..........

eBay seller etefore sells a 40D compatible grip, Phottix BP-40D.
I've had mine for about 18 months and is still going strong.

I've got a Link Delight one.
Had it about 2 months now. So far so good, works exactly as it should.

I think it cost me £50 with 2 batteries and a cable remote.

I've got a phottix one. I actually prefer the rubber on the grip to the canon version. Thing i dont like is how easy the winder under the shutter release is to operate by accident. Other than this love it.

I had a Linkdelight one for my 450D (literally just sold it), and I was really taken aback by how good the quality was! When I've upgraded to a 50D, I'll be getting another

I have a Meike one for my 40D and i did a comparison with my bosses Canon one. There were 2 differences,1 being the texture of the rubber is slightly different and the only is the flap for the battery compartment is curve on the Canon one.
I personally don't like the feel of the 40D with a grip as i do think it's a big enough body on it's on (but i did come from a gripped 400D to 40D)

+1 for link delight. I have one on the 450D, you get all the extra buttons like an official canon one (some grips dont have them all) and is still going strong! wise investment!

There is also a thread below about third party grips...

I looked at getting a LinkDelight one earlier this week, the pictures of it look good quality. I agonised over the LCD version... but in the end I bought a genuine one.

What put me off was that I had read about the battery indicator not working (or maybe not being accurate) with a third party grip on the 5Dmk2. I don't think you'll have that problem with the 40D as (I think!) the batteries don't have the same amount of intelligence built in.

There is a big saving to be made!
