3rd party batteries

I've got a Duracell one that i thought I'd sold with my 40D about 18 months ago. When i subsequently sold on my M4/3rds stuff and came back to a 50D about 2 months agoI looked in my camera bag and found the same Duracell battery, still fully charged.

A whole lot cheaper than the Canon alternatives too.
 
Ive got 2 genuine Canon batteries for my 50D. I've also got 2 3rd party batteries from eBay. They're only for back up.

The camera is gripped, so the the 2 genuine ones last forever anyway and the back ups I've only used rarely. On the occasion I have used 1 or 2 at a time, they still last all day.
 
another vote for the duracels from me
avoid non branded I found they were pants
 
I've got 2 genuine Canon and 6 ebay no name specials and the no name batteries last just as long (if not longer) as the originals. Both my bodies are gripped and the 2 Canon ones last for a couple of full days shooting on my 5D3 and they are 1800Mah. I've got some 1800Mah that are as good and some 1400Mah that don't last as long but are still good for over a 1000 shots with IS and AF all the time.
 
in my 5d2 i have one original and the rest are third party, i never use the original, the third party jobs have more power than the original and send the correct in to the camera and all

think mine are about £8 each so big saving over the original canon jobs
 
I use Hahnel 1650mah ones and they work a treat. They are probably right in the middle price wise. I'm not comfortable buying the really cheap ones.. You get what you pay for IMHO..
 
I find that the gen canon and duracel ones I have last well and seem as good as each other
the third party ones I have, 2 just don't charge the other 4 charge fine but just don't last any where near as long as the branded
 
I'll only go with branded 3rd party batteries. Heard too many horror stories of these things, popping and going on fire etc
