Hello. Its my 21st soon and I currently own a 400D. I have only had it a few months but I got it from mpbphotographic.co.uk. A mate of mine is looking at buying it of me so im thinking I could put the money a long with some 21st bday present money and get a second hand 500D from mpbphotographic.co.uk. Theres a few features like live view etc that I could do with which the 400D does not offer. It would work out that I will need to pay around £100/£150 that includes a grip/batteries.

Is it worth the step up?

PS Im unaware of all the extra benefits

A quick look at the spec sheets shoud give you an idea of the different feature between the two but already looks like you know about a feature that is key to you in having live view.
I doubt you would see much difference in the pictures taken, so the question may be is live view worth £100+ ?

Its just I do night photography as well and it can be awkward focusing while shining a torch on something and looking through the sight. I may just get the 450D as that has live view and then I can put the cash towards another lens.

I went from a 400d to a 550d, The main thing I noticed was the speed between pushing the button and the shutter firing was a bit quicker.

Ahh. I think I may just go for the 450D then and a new lens. I currently have a 18-55mm kit lens and and the 55-250mm. Im thinking something a little more wide angle as I do some urban exploration so it would come in handy. Ideally ide like a sigma 500mm but thats way out of my budget.
