Yes
Just been using my new wireless kit with my 400d, and it was all working fine, but then my camera turned off and won't come back on. Tried different batteries, a different card and a different lens, still nothing.

Do cameras just cease to work like that?

quite possibly , its electronic , it may just stop working , end of , cant really suggest everything as you have covered the battery etc :(

Something 3rd party from someone on here. I don't think anyone else has had any problems using things bought from him, so I suspect it's just coincidence that it's happened now.

Perhaps try pulling out and replacing the little button cell battery that's inside the battery compartment? I'm clutching at straws I'm afraid.. good luck sorting it :)

I'd love to, but my charming husband attached the battery grip stupidly tight and I can't get the damn thing off.
To say today is going badly is an understatement.

Right, got the battery grip off, and now I have to try find a replacement CR2016 battery.

Try it without the battery grip on. They are a common source of problems IMO

Tried it with and without grip, with flashgun attached & without (anything's worth a shot I figured), changed everything else I can think of (apart from the little battery), and it's dead.

I'm still trying to find a shop that sells one. There's not really anywhere in my town.

Don't have the 350d now, really wish I hadn't sold it :-(
I'll head into town now.

It was this post over at the AP forum that made me suspect the CR2016...

I read that, some of them think it can cause issues and others don't. It is an old camera though, the lithium battery has never been changed.

Maplins sell the wee battery, if you have one near by

It's a good half hour on the train, my flu ridden brain is telling me the journey's not a good idea.

Strange enough try a couple of petrol stations, the 2016 is a common remote central locking battery thats where I got mine from, otherwise theres usually an argos or tesco close by

I'm happy to report all is as it should be in camera land, for the princely sum of £2. Even the fact I somehow managed to slice my finger open on the camera somehow can't stop me smiling.
Thanks for your all your help, it's definitely appreciated

Im Pleased fpr you that alls well, Phew panic over :):):)

I still can't believe that that affected the whole camera, it's ridiculous.

same slot as the big one theres a watch battery to run the clock its in a holder on the side

I was gonna advise grabbing a multi meter to check it :D
