400D upgrade to 6D

I've had a 400D for almost 10 years. I've always intended to upgrade to a full frame camera. My main lens is the 24 - 105 mm f/4 L IS, which I absolutely love but don't feel like I take full effect of on my ageing 400D. I always liked the look of the 5D and now I'm finally in a position to buy something I've been looking properly and decided the 6D will fit my needs perfectly. I mostly shoot static objects and landscapes but there's also quite a lot of inside shots (where I think the 6D will really come into its own).

Since the 5D mkII release I've not really kept up with release schedules. I'm therefore interested in whether people think that the 6D is a sensible upgrade and whether now is a sensible time to do it. I want to upgrade before a big trip next summer, preferably around Christmas so I get some time to practise.
 
I think the 6D would be a great choice. I upgraded from 40D, also most static objects, landscapes etc and it's a fantastic camera. Low light handling is also brilliant.
 
Doubt that you will be unhappy with 6D. I had one for a couple of months before giving it to my brother, I now shoot Nikon, but was delighted with the 6D and was sad to see it go. Great high iso performance is the stand-out feature of the 6D so if you shoot indoors it really should be at the top of your shopping list.
 
The 6d is great, better in every way than the 5dII (except build quality)

Then it's a definite for you s an upgrade - as has been said the 6D is a great body into full frame.

If you are looking to be upgrading around Christmas, keep an eye open for Canon's cutback offers - they may well put the 6D in a cutback offer...:)
 
+1 for the upgrade.

I use the 6D with the 24-105. This is a very good all round combo and can get reasonable indoor/lowish light results as well.
 
I use the canon 6d with 24-105. I don't think you'd regret it
Image quality is excellent as is ability to use in low light
 
Thanks everyone. I'm not going to end up buying one and then the mkII being released the next month?

I'm also wondering whether anyone has any suggestions for additional lenses (a pretty open question I know). I'm thinking of perhaps a 50 mm f/1.8 for mostly use taking photos of people doing things inside.
