40D and 540EZ Speedlite Compatability???

Hi All

I've borrowed a 540ez to use at a mates wedding, but even before I'd mounted it on the top of my 40D, I'd been warned that th trigger voltage may be non-compatable and I might risk damaging my camera or the borrowed flash unit!!!

Can anyone tell me for certain if this is the case, or if you can use this combonation without any problems, please?

i have a 440EZ and used that with my old 400D with no problems. they wont report TTL but are safe to use on other modes like manual etc...

For full compatibility with Canon EOS dSLR's you will need an EX series Speedlite.
