Yes
Hi,
not sure what I have done but when i connect my 40D to the PC, my images (on the camera/flash card) are not in any order that I can understand.
e.g. i was in iran and shot 300 images, sandwiched between those, are shots at home, madrid, baby stuff...

when I connect the camera, the groupings means some of the iran shots are interspersed with some of those both before and after the Iran trip.
So, trying to download them to the PC into organised folders is becoming a bit of a nightmare.

What have I done, and how can i fix it so all photos are listed by (ascending) order in which they were taken?

ta.

?
when i do that in explorer and then connect to DPP, the images are still int he jumbled up order - doesn't seem to make a difference.
I shoot RAW only and don't want to have to install a RAW viewer in explorer, nor do i want to download in one go because in DPP i rename photos as I download them to their correct folder.
so, what have i done in the 40D that results in all the image order being jumbled? there is no alpha sort that I can find, i only want them sorted by date.

DPP and Explorer probably won't reflect each others' settings. Arrange them by alphabet order in DPP, if you can. (never tried).

why would i want to arrange alpabetically? I want them date order as taken.
i don't think DPP lets me access directly to the flash card, only after I have downloaded them to the PC.
(p.s. i use EOS Utility to select/rename/download).

Because the file numbers the camera assigns are in an alphanumeric order, so will give you exactly the same thing.

In DPP, go to view > sort and you can set your order as you like.

so, DPP will allow me to change the sort order of images on the card whilst it is still in the camera?
