Ok, so 20 minutes ago I caved and bought a 40D :D
I was going to wait till thursday/friday but found a deal for the camera and the battery grip (BG-E2N) for £685.

Just got to wait till its delivered :(
I'll post some camera porn when it gets here ;)
Over and out!

I've had mine for a month and absolutely love it. The step up from the 400D is going to be huge.. I upgraded from a 30D and think its worth every penny.

The price you got seems very good, well done!

I'm hoping to buy one in the next few months. Can't wait. Am getting far too tempted by Warehouse Express' interest-free credit!!!

hehe that temptation overcame me in December :p Very smooth system using their interest free credit too! :D

Congrats Mr.Orb - its a cracking camera, and looks like you got it for one hell of a good price too! (y)

You won't be disappointed. I bought mine the first day they were available in the UK.

Great camera, but check Kerso's price. Mine with cashback cost £600. 6.5 fps is magic!!

But the cashback offer isn't on anymore, plus i got the battery grip, extra battery and loads of other random stuff included. I probably would have used Ian if i didn't find this offer, he's been great in the past (got all of my lenses from him).

Congrats m8y, Ive just emailed them (digitalrev) and Kerso myself re purchasing the 40d, grip and 70-200L IS f2.8. Quite excited although im a little worried about the potential for being stung with the vat. I believe they return it but i cancelled my paypal account long ago (loathe em lol) so how else would they be able to return it ?

Hi btw, my first post and i have to say it certainly seems like a great forum. Loads of extremely helpful posts and seems like nothing but decent people :)

:bonk:

I decided the other week that I want a 40D as well. I was going to go for the 450D originally but several factors made me change my mind. Firstly the smaller size of the 400D and very likely the 450D doesn't appeal to me, and secondly the 40D also uses the same batteries as my existing 300D as far as I am aware so therefore I save money on not needing to buy additional spare batteries. Plus the 40D is a much better camera as well :)

I've now provisionally got a date penciled in for early July 2008 to pick up the 40D Body Only on 12 months interest fee, hence nothing to pay until July 2009. I'll just use my Canon IXUS 800 till July 2008.

Siox, you won't get hit with the vat from Ian Kerso as it is UK supplied.

And welcome here!!

OK, pleb question here. What will the 40D give in terms of results that a 350D wont? I know lenses make loads of difference but am in the dark when it comes to body's.
Also, what are the pro's/con's of canon/nikkon?

Ian Kerr is his name, he supplies a lot of us from the US but shipped in the UK and is 100% reliable. There is a thread on the forum for contacting him and you'll find it in the "for sale" forum.

Thanks. I'll have a look there as well.

Bad news guys/girls, I was hoping it would arrive this morning but unfortunately it arrived when I was out having a driving lesson this afternoon :(. Guess I will have to wait till monday :(.

I got the same deal from DigitalRev - £680 with grip.

DigitalRev are excellent, very quick delivery from HK, all the extras it comes with are really good, I use the cloths and cleaning things all the time, work really well.

As for the 40D - LOVE it, I was worried that there was'nt going to be enough of a difference between a 40D and 400D, but the 40D is SO much better, everything about it is better than the 400D. Best £680 I ever spent.

Gonna keet my 40D forever aswel, just about to start my own photography company with a few other photographers to do event photography so in about a year or so i'l get my hands on a 5D MkII and a Canon EF 70-200 IS. I'l keep the 17-40L on the 5D and put the 70-200 on the 40D...that will be a cool kitbag.
