40D showing busy

hi, just been out with my 40d at the BMW show @ santa pod, working fine up til the point of just about to leave. Now all it says when i turn it on is busy in the window. :bang:

The screen does not say its doing a self clean, nor display any of todays pictures (though saving to PC does reveal the photos are there phew).

Menu does not display.

When shutter button is depressed then busy shows, then reverts to current settings.

I have dismantled camera grip and tried just one battery, i have replaced todays batteries with fresh.

Anyone got any ideas before i take it into the shop tomorrow.

Have you taken the card out?

take card and battery out leave for 5, then see if thats better, also try another card.

thanks guys i'll give it a try.. i did try it without the card in and turned it on, but no joy.

i wait the 5
