lol I'm doing a 5 day residential course in March and I'm supposed to know what I'm doing already!

WeddingHack spent a week over in the US last year, again on a residential course.

There is more to making progress as a wedding shooter than it appears. I have benefited hugely this year working with someone I hope to work with a lot more next year.It has really opened my eyes up and my photography is getting better as a result. We have shot together 5 times this year and I've learned a huge amount.

So 5 days is nothing really ;)

I post a warning - watched her on chase jarvis live last night and her voice is ****ing irritating, I mean proper ****ing irritating, I know we can't all be blessed to be English but her bizzare cackling laugh actually peaked and distorted the mics :s

like jesus, I have seriously never heard a higher pitched, bubblier laugh XD

hopefully the creativelive sound guys will have her better under control than when chase had been feeding her champagne ;)

well worth watching but they do need to sort the sound out:rules:

a) they re-broadcast "shortly" after the session finishes
b) you can buy the whole set as a download for $99

Watching this... Some things are quite useful and I am giving it a second thought about the whole social networking thing. Hopefully tomorrow will be good.

I do however fully agree about her voice and chatting too much. As a result she did skip through very quickly about the actual shooting yesterday.

A few answers she gave did sound very worrying like 'I always shoot on Auto WB" shortly after confessing using JPEGs a lot.

Today is a disaster! sound and video all over the place. And I just heard her say "I'm going to underexpose the shot because of her white flowers and dress.... this isn't right surely? Don't you have to overexpose a stop or two to bring out whites? She did say in the first video that she doesn't do her own post processing but instead outsources it to a separate company... all 36gb for each wedding

Jeez, I couldn't listen to her for any more than five minutes.... quite nice looking though. A case of should be seen and not heard..... :D

As someone married to an American, I watched for about 15min and then turned her off, her voice is unbearable. :gag:

Anyone else think she looks a little awkward behind the camera? She seems to lean back all the time, like she wants a slightly wider composition, but could easily take a step or two back?

I stayed up late to watch the shooting sessions
The inside session was fair, but then she decided to move outside
They didn't have enough radio mikes so they were trying to catch the sound with a hand-held
consequently the only thing you could hear was the screecher!

Then she decided to move to the other side of the street
Unfortunately the web-cams were tethered so all you could see was "some people" on the other side of the street, bewteen parked cars and passing traffic

I queried on the online-chat and was told "it's ok there's an HD cam over there, the download will be fine"

I just downloaded that session - and guess what
same as the web broadcast!!!!:bang:

I have written a strongly worded note demanding money with menaces!:rules:

Agreed. It was all over the place. I laughed when they went outside and the camera just cut back to an empty room for 10 minutes with that man just walking around, they must have got the feeds wrong. Then it went back to the correct feed, them filming from across the street and getting car after car go past.
God knows how the live event tonight will go tonight, no doubt sound and video will be all over the place again.

crikey - got a very polite email saying the money had been refunded!
(shame I rather hoped they would say "oops wrong download try again"!)

I've been watching it half the night. I went to bed at 2am last night and just checked and i can't believe it's still on now.

It's going to be very very interesting to see the end results. I know she outsources the PP so i'm not sure who is gonna edit it in such a small time scale?

I watched till 4 and got fairly bored. She showed a slideshow preview and I personally wasn't impressed. I know I have no experience in weddings and they had horrible venue, and she had 1.2 primes, but the photos didn't look that great to me, particularly the ones from yesterday. I don't know the type of PP she will get done, but these previews had awful backgrounds and various junk in it all over place. Not that fancy light either.
I do respect her for marketing and networking skills though.

Ok so I've just been catching up with the rewatch and I was considering paying for the package but from what you guys are saying I take it that it's not really worth it?

She does seem to take a shot and then figure out what settings to use after a lot.
