Hi,

In a similar position to a recent post.
I want to upgrade to a 50 D
I have already got a nifty fifty and a 70-300 IS,
I can't decide whether to go for the camera with a 17-85 IS [F4-5.6], or buy the body only and get a Sigma 17-70 OS HSM DC Macro [F2.8-4]
I'm thinking the sigma is a faster lens and has a wider angle than the nifty fifty.
What do you guys think? :cuckoo:

Having a tiny bit of experience with both of those lenses, I'd recommend staying clear of both of them as replacements for the kit lens. I doubt you'll see much of an improvement over the kit lens. That said, we've no idea how much you have to spend in total, so it's hard to recommend other alternatives.

Woodsy,

Thanks.
The 17-85 IS I was refering to is the kit lens I beleive.
I've just read a write up of the Sigma [April W. D. Camera] against the Tamron 17-50 f2.8, and it sounded like a better lens than the kit lens, mainly because its faster.
I'm no expert oblviously, but looking to spend up to £400 ish on a lens.
Its just cheaper to buy the camera with the kit lens ?
