Hi all,

Got a 50 person group shot coming up and I wanted to plump you lot for a few Ideas. I kinda wanna use the great hall (think theater), but need some lighting inspiration for that.

Any other thoughts, I'd like it to be v funky and quirky and hopefully the signature shot for a massive set of images :D

Get them all to turn around .. That will be quirky..... lol

1 Will it be taken day time or night.

2 does the room have windows.

3 Will there be enough lights in the room to do the shot without extra lights.

4 how many lights could you get hold of if needed.

5 am i helping yet.....

btw I'm a strobist AND a student so dumb ideas are act prefered
 
if its a theatre spread them out random in the seats...and sit very still
use a tripod and ambient lighting

that was my plan (but I was gonna go crazy with speedlights (it is me after all) but I had a little reccy today and the seats aren't tiered so will look sucky, working on a new plan atm
 
What's your budget like? That's a nice size group to try something a little different. What sort of group is it? Business people, sports people, children, OAPs??? It could make all the difference.

You're in Exeter. You have a river. You have boats.

Stick them all on a boat - on a fine day. In the middle of the river with you on the riverbank. With Exmouth or ? as the backdrop.

Sorry. It's the wrong end of the week for good ideas......

budget I might be able to push a wee bit if the idea rocks

student guild employees so the grown ups that run it through to the part time bar staff (I really ought to be in it but meh)

Intruiged by that one will see what I can arrange D:
 
Building on MrCrow.........

If the shot is for 50 peeps........... lets say the hall can seat 150 peeps....

Get them all to sit in 3 random places.... Obviously not the same as another person...... (if it can seat more.... then you get the idea)

So the Hall appears FULL... :D

Just put the camera on the stage and remote shutter....... you can use a smaller arrangement of flash(es) and just layer them all up at the end...
 
I kinda like that plan, but as I said not tiered seating so will look a bit naff. I do like your idea though, just for a diff theater
