Hi,

Just ordered a 50d from Kerso, and i'm wondering now whether it's possible to use the file transfer via HDMI instead of using the USB?

HDMI i'm presuming is a lot faster than usb, and with me having a HDMI port on my laptop, i would have thought that file transfer, if possible, would be awesome.

Anyone got any ideas before i order a HDMI cable?

Think you may have things muddled up a bit - you can use the HDMI port on your camera to view the images on a TV in higher quality but not, as far as I am aware, to transfer images to a computer. Surely this is Firewire you're thinking of?

the hdmi port is for exporting images that have been graphically rendered, not as data

the laptop port and camera port both send rendered graphics to a monitor or tv to display

so no it won't work

I got a UDMA card reader (and UDMA CF cards), but I must admit that the data transfer speed when using my non-UDMA card reader is not noticeably different to the UDMA card reader, if you see what I mean??!?

Using my UDMA card reader (albeit a £4 one) I can transfer at up to around 27MB/s, but on my non UDMA one its nearer 5MB/s. The theoretical maximum data tranfer rate of USB2 is 60MB/s (480 mega bits per second).

The HDMI output on your laptop is for use with external displays, not data transfer.
