That should be fine although I have not used one myself but I did have the original Canon one.

Are you sure that it will do all that you want? What I mean is it's a bit basic so exposures on bulb will be timed by you.

The one I have is a Yoongnuo MC-36R but they seem to be available under several makes.

You can choose whether or not to do a manual exposure or if time you can set amount of exposures, length of exposures, interval between exposures. It has a basic back light but good enough for night time and the 2 AAA batteries seem to have a great life even thought the unit is on all the time.

Build quality, although not up to Canon standard is good and I think it would take a fair amount of punishment.

The only critism I have of mine is that the connection socket to the camera is a little on the loose side and can be pulled out easily.

I paid nearly £40 on Amazon for mine a while back but they are available on EBay cheaper.

Danny, I just bought a cheapy from ebay, works great and the connection into the cam is nice and snug.

think I paid a fiver for it delivered.
 
Can endorse the one linked to by Roly. It does everthing I think I'll ever need from a timer at a very competetive price.

It's also worth a reminder that the RF-602 wireless flash triggers can do double duty as wireless shutter releases, so long as you get the appropriate connection cable, such as this set....

It's perhaps also worth pointing out that one set can only operate either as a shutter release or flash trigger at any one time. It can't do both simultaneously because the timing would be all wrong. If you want both functions at once you'll need two sets of transmitters and receivers - one to trip the shutter, another to fire the flashes.

I brought one of these from Amazon. Does everything the Canon one does at nearly a tenth of the price :)
 
It works for me and it's the same one that I have, and at a pretty good price too, especially for delivery from the UK.
 
The one in post #9 is the dog's danglies and has half press AF.

If you'll never want a variable self timer, or to queue up multiple exposure over time, or to set a timed long exposure (without staring at a stopwatch), then that one is overkill, but I think worth the extra fiver for future proofing in case needs change. It does not need batteries in order to operate as a simple two stage shutter release, only to use the timer functions.

The one you linked to originally obviously has the bare minimum spec. If that's all you'll ever need then I'm sure it will be a fine choice. Of course, if your shot timing is not absolutely critical then you could do quite well using the 2 second (or 10 second) built in self-timer (combined with mirror lockup) to release the shutter without risking camera shake.

Get a set of YN 602 for your off camera flash trigger...and use the 'camera to reciever' lead...you then use the transmitter to fire remotely...

Dual porpoise...(purpose)...and cheaper from ebay...
